When I worked at Barclays Bank in Greytown in the 1970s I used a trolley to single handedly moved hundreds of thousands of Rands down the pavement to the post office about 800 meters away. I was not even armed. I never felt threatened and cash in transit back then was doe by parcel post to Pietermaritzburg with the valuable packages being shipped by train. In today's South Africa I would not have stood a chance.
